Hi Bobby,

Their is no evidence on earth that suggest that the fire from the sun itself has ever reached all the way to earth. Only once the sun goes supernova would that happen which will not be for millions of years from now.

Can the sun cause world wide power failure? I've read quite a bit about this and the History Channel did a story on it as well.

Hi William,

Simply said. Yes. The sun is able to generate a massive EMP (electro magnetic pulse) that is more powerful than a million atomic bombs going off all at once. In the event the sun's EMP of this scale hits the earth, it will overload nearly all electrical systems/grids as well as nearly all electronics. Since cars of today have electronic ignition systems, most likely cars to trucks and planes to ships will stop working. However we strongly believe commercial trains that provide their own own fuel will not be effected much, if at all. This means delivery trucks as well as cars will not be able to get to grocery stores. Water in most homes will no longer work as electricity is used to provide water for your home. The list of problems go on and on. It's estimated that it will take three to five years to get all power restored. The National Academy of Sciences says more like five to ten years to restore power worldwide.

If that happens, all we can say is, good luck.
